Medical Billing Specialist - ADMINISTRATION

Position Description: This position involves submitting claims to Medicaid and other state funded agencies in a timely manner.  This position entails examining denials, troubleshooting any problems and rebilling claims as necessary as well as obtaining pars, posting payments and producing billing reports.


Job duties:

  • Submitting claims to Medicaid and other state funded agencies in a timely manner to ensure proper reimbursement for agency services

  • Posting payments and/or denials

  • Ongoing monitoring of the billing portal notifications and follow up accordingly

  • Ongoing monitoring of the authorizations information to ensure units are available for all services

  • Complete all ongoing paperwork required for the agency to receive timely reimbursement   

  • Keeping agency in compliance with all licensing and revalidation requirements in order to bill

  • Communication with Executive Director and Program Directors regarding reimbursement and or billing including availability for questions or assistance

  • Update customer information to Medicaid and agency personnel to avoid delays in payments or benefits

  • Providing monthly billing reports to the Executive Director and Program Directors as well as reporting to them any denials and/or other billing problems

  • Calling Medicaid to resolve billing issues

  • Maintaining billing portion of TherapServices.net

  • Must abide by and follow the rules and regulations, as set forth by the Division of Intellectual Disabilities

  • Creating and maintaining various record keeping systems and binders for each department

  • Preparing and maintaining databases for each department to ensure all service dates are billed correctly

  • Preparing for and attending  agency and department meetings to ensure accurate billing

  • Preparing initial setup in billing software and billing spread sheets for new clients as well as any change in services for existing clients

  • Comparing spread sheets with billing software reports to ensure billing is accurate

  • Monitoring billing software modules for signs of potential billing issues

  • Other duties, as assigned, within ability and responsibility level of the job

Qualifications:

  • Prefer experienced in training/or education in the Medicaid web portal system, HCBS

  • Prefer experienced in training/or education in Long Term Care benefits

  • Prefer experienced in training/or education in Colorado Developmental Disabilities system and benefits

  • Prefer experienced in training/or education in insurance billing and reimbursement of claims

  • Prefer experienced with Medicaid billing

  • Prefer experienced with TherapServices.net

  • Ability to support Program Directors and staff on Microsoft components to record billing information

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to read and write English proficiently

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Detail-oriented

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office components

  • Professional attitude and teamwork mentality

  • Dependable, patient and honest

  • Outstanding attendance and ability to self-direct

  • Must be a self-starter with a teamwork mentality

  • Must have outstanding organizational skills

  • Ability to pass criminal background checks

  • Ability to prove the right to work in the U.S.

 

Minimum Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Requires repetitive lifting and carrying of approximately 15lbs as it pertains to office supplies

  • Requires sitting at a desk for up to 8 hours with breaks and the ability to walk or stretch as needed

  • May include repetitive motions such as typing and sitting at a computer

  • Walking short distances
