Licensed Clinical Social Worker – BEHAVIORAL SERVICES

Position Description: The Licensed Clinical Social Worker position provides, oversees, and/or administers a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling, behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in a clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making and program administration. Leads and trains lower level counselors/therapists, staff, contractors and/or line staff engaged in related therapeutic care activities, as appropriate to the individual position. Works within a larger support team to ensure therapeutic progress of clients.


Job duties:

This position requires:

  1. provision of intensive, integrated professional mental health services and treatment planning in a clinical and/or outpatient environment in accordance with Health Care Policy and Funding rules and regulation;

  2. provision of professional leadership in the determination of appropriate therapeutic approaches and methods;

c) planning and implementing outreach/education programs, workshops, and activities;

d) supervising clinical activities of counselors/therapists, staff, contractors and/or line staff;

e) establishment and maintenance of case files and related documents for clinical and legal purposes.

  • Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to clients and families as appropriate to the position; prepares treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.

  • Collects data about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.

  • Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework.

  • Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for clients in a crisis condition and for those with serious disturbance problems.

  • Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used; changes method and degree of therapy when indicated.

  • Establishes and maintains case files, referrals, and other related documents for the treatment of clients; prepares related documentation for civil commitment hearings or other legal proceedings; keeps abreast of patient data to ensure appropriate treatment and care are delivered.

  • Consults with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals in relation to patient/client records, rights, and responsibilities.

  • As appropriate to the position, performs various administrative functions such as monitoring Authorization Requests, Services Plans and preparing reports such as Behavioral Plans and correspondence; may propose changes to program policies and procedures.

  • May provide formal teaching, consultation, and in-service training to relevant staff/ families

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to see clients in the home, day program, office and work place as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or an equivalent field; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Must be a current State of Colorado Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in good standing required or license eligible.

  • Should have some experience in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with some training in trauma work. 

  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.

  • Knowledge of psychological testing interpretation.

  • Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.

  • Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.

  • Knowledge of community mental health resources.

  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.

  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.

  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of social and vocational rehabilitation as they relate to mental health clinical practices.

  • Ability to observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.

  • Knowledge of community support services, Medicaid funding and Disability programs and resources.

  • Knowledge of community health care, and community based residential and vocational services.

  • Ability to read and write English proficiently

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office components

  • Professional attitude and teamwork mentality

  • Dependable, patient and honest

  • Outstanding attendance and ability to self-direct

  • Current/Valid Colorado Driver’s License

  • Good driving record that meets the requirements of agencies insurance carrier

  • Ability to pass criminal background checks

  • Must be able to document your eligibility to legally work in the United States

 

Minimum Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Requires repetitive lifting and carrying of approximately 15lbs as it pertains to customer care items and/or office supplies.

  • Must be able to push/pull a wheelchair with a customer of moderate weight. 

  • Requires moderate amount of reaching over head and away from body

  • May be required to bend, stoop, squat and climb as it pertains to assessing an environment.

  • Requires staff to sit for periods of time, walk for up to several hours at a time with breaks

  • May include repetitive motions such as typing and sitting at a computer,

  • Walking short distances

  • Driving for no more than one hour but may include several trips in one day.

  • Work is primarily indoors and out in the community, which does require driving and brief exposure to various elements and road conditions. 

  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in varying weather conditions. 

  • Must be cognitive and utilize safety skills while walking, driving and maneuvering through various weather conditions.

  • Daily significant contact with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities.  Daily contact with community members and professionals within the community and/or in individual homes, work site locations and the community and requires exposure to various elements and road conditions.
