Direct Support Professionals – ALL DEPARTMENTS

Direct Support Professionals play a very important role within our organization and in the lives of the customers we serve.  PPCH is currently looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Direct Support Professionals in the following departments:

 

Children’s Extensive Supports - DSPs in our CES department provide meaningful, educational and supportive services to children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities that reside at home with their family.

 

Day Program - DSPs in our Connect program provide supervision, mentorship and teaching opportunities to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the community.  DSPs in our Engage program provide interactive educational and social opportunities to adults with extraordinary medical needs at our base-site setting. Our goal is to enhance our customers’ decision making skills and empower them to make informed decisions about their own life experiences.

Independent Living Services - DSPs in the Reach program provide supervision, mentorship and teaching opportunities to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities that reside in their own apartments.  Our goal is to promote each person’s independence and provide support around the daily living skills required to live independently.

 

Group Home - DSPs in our Inspire group home provide supervision, mentoring and teaching opportunities to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities that require increased levels of supervision .  Our goal is to increase their independence with adaptive, social and daily living skills.

 

Supported Living Services  -  DSPs in our SLS department provide mentorship and teaching opportunities in a one-on-one capacity to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities that reside with their families or in their own homes.  Our goal is to support them with increasing and/or maintaining their independence with daily living skills and to empower them to make informed decisions about their own life experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a strong desire to work closely with adults with intellectual and/or developmental

  • Must be able to demonstrate administrative skill and leadership qualities

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to read and write English proficiently

  • Experience with the Colorado Developmental Disabilities system

  • Experience with PPCH policies and procedures

  • Any experience or knowledge of the health care field

  • Working with others in a health care capacity

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Professional attitude and teamwork mentality

  • Outstanding attendance and ability to self-direct

  • Current/Valid Colorado Driver’s License

  • Good driving record that meets the requirements of agencies insurance carrier

  • Able to safely operate a 15 passenger van

  • Ability to pass criminal background checks

  • Ability to prove the right to work in the U.S.

 

Minimum Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift approximately 75lbs 

  • Requires repetitive lifting and carrying of approximately 15lbs as it pertains to consumer care items and/or office supplies

  • Must be able to push/pull a wheelchair with a consumer of moderate weight

  • Must be able to physically assist consumers with transfers from wheelchair to changing table, toilet or car seat as needed

  • Requires moderate amount of reaching over head and away from body

  • May be required to bend, stoop, squat and climb as it pertains to assessing an environment

  • Requires staff to sit for periods of time, walk for up to several hours at a time with breaks

  • Requires sitting at a desk for up to 8 hours with breaks and the ability to walk or stretch as needed

  • May include repetitive motions such as typing and sitting at a computer

  • Walking short distances

  • Driving for no more than one hour but may include several trips in one day

  • Requires staff to squat and climb as it pertains to consumer care

  • Work is primarily indoors and out in the community, which does require driving and brief exposure to various elements and road conditions

  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in varying weather conditions

  • Must be cognitive and utilize safety skills while walking, driving and maneuvering through various weather conditions

  • Must be able to sit in a moving vehicle for long periods of time

  • Daily significant contact with agency personnel and its employees or contractors as well as outside governing agencies and benefit carriers

  • Daily significant contact with individuals with Developmental Disabilities

  • Daily contact with community members and professionals within the community
