Behavioral Line Staff – BEHAVIORAL SERVICES

Position Description: This position works 1:1 with individuals with developmental disabilities to implement individuals’ behavioral support plans (IBSSPs) and partners with their interdisciplinary team to teach and support the individuals’ needs in accordance to the treatment plan under the supervision and oversight of a Behavioral Consultant.  Coordinates and documents services received to ensure fulfillment of the individual’s Service Plan.  Monitors and reports data to ensure compliance with all applicable regulating agencies.  This position maintains professional relationships with individuals as well as members of treatment teams. 


Job duties:

  • Implements, monitors, and reports on individuals’ Treatment Plan, including Individual Behavioral Service and Support Plans (IBSSPs).

  • Models and implements IBSSPs, implementing behavioral interventions and techniques as directed by a Behavioral Consultant.

  • Implements or conducts behavioral interventions and techniques (coping and social skill modeling and acquisition, behavioral momentum, RBT and problem-solving, pivotal attention, selective attention delivery, response blocking, redirection, etc.), as directed by the Behavioral Consultant.

  • Implements preventative procedures and intervention procedures

  • Works with the Behavioral team to review plans for effectiveness, as well as assists in collecting data to measure individual progress on plans.

  • Adheres to treatment schedules in partnership with behavioral team.

  • Completes all documentation and tracking timely and accurately.

  • Communicates effectively with individuals, guardians and family members, and all other members of treatment team. 

  • Deals effectively with crisis situations.

  • Provides for the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals with disabilities in their homes, day program, at work and in the community.

  • Attends to individual health and safety needs according to all assessment and care plans

  • Provides transportation as required using personal vehicle.

  • Monitors and reports on data to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations, including PPCH Policies and Procedures.

  • Completes all required training in the appropriate timeframe.

  • Reports all behavioral incidents, emergencies, and/or significant changes in condition to Supervisor and to the individual’s residential and/or day team, and completes all related paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Maintains respectful and professional relationships with individuals, staff, providers, guardians and family members, and all other members of treatment teams. 

  • Confronts conflict productively, as described in the residential training.

  • Utilizes effective time management skills.

  • Observing confidentiality of individuals and PPCH operations.

  • Being familiar with all PPCH policies and procedures as well as those outlined by the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing

  • This position requires regular use of a personal vehicle with liability insurance that meets PPCH standards

  • Must attend and show competency in all PPCH training and meetings.

  • Must abide by and follow the rules and regulations, as set forth by the Division of Intellectual Disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Possess and understanding of developmental disabilities

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends if needed

  • Strongly preferred- 24 hours training inclusive of practical experience in the implementation of positive behavioral supports and/or applied behavioral analysis and that is consistent with best practice and research on effectiveness for people with developmental disabilities.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • One year of experience in related health care industry

  • Ability to read and write English proficiently

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office components

  • Professional attitude and teamwork mentality

  • Outstanding attendance and ability to self-direct

  • Current/Valid Colorado Driver’s License

  • Good driving record that meets the requirements of agencies insurance carrier

  • Ability to pass criminal background checks

  • Ability to prove the right to work in the U.S.

 

Minimum Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift approximately 75lbs. 

  • Requires repetitive lifting and carrying of approximately 15lbs as it pertains to consumer care items and/or office supplies.

  • Must be able to push/pull a wheelchair with a consumer of moderate weight. 

  • Must be able to physically assist consumers with transfers from wheelchair to changing table, toilet or car seat as needed.

  • Requires moderate amount of reaching over head and away from body

  • May be required to bend, stoop, squat and climb as it pertains to assessing an environment and/or to consumer care.

  • Requires staff to sit for periods of time, walk for up to several hours at a time with breaks.

  • Work is primarily in the community and requires exposure to various elements and road conditions. 

  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in varying weather conditions. 

  • Must be cognitive and utilize safety skills while walking, driving and maneuvering through various weather conditions.

  • Must be able to sit in a moving vehicle for long periods of time.

  • Daily, significant contact with agency personnel and its employees or contractors, as well as outside governing agencies, team members and adults in system.
